Olive’s mission is to transform the lives of the commuting workforce in large cities
Our society is facing a commute crisis. According to the San Francisco Treasurer, there are around 5000 rideshare drivers (Uber/Lyft/etc.) who work in SF and live 2+ hours outside of the Bay Area (based on our research, we believe the number is much larger than this). This issue, however, extends well beyond the rideshare industry. Construction workers, firefighters, police, teachers and many more groups are forced to make the difficult decision between commuting for hours each day or trying to survive out of their car. Many of these commuters end up sleeping in their cars in unsafe and illegal areas. They constantly face tickets, break-ins (while sleeping), and are often woken up by private security and forced to move. We rely on this sleep-deprived workforce to operate heavy machinery, drive our loved ones, teach our children and much more.
Olive Community wants to solve this crisis by creating an option for commuting workers to rest and recharge safely in the Bay Area. Our plan is to create community wellness centers for commuting workers that will provide access to private resting quarters and clean bathrooms in a convenient area. We have received strong interest from over 1,000 commuting workers and are focused on bringing our vision to life as soon as possible.
